Vaccination strategies for dogs and cats
Determining the best vaccination strategy for each pet is part of our service to clients at Blackhawk Veterinary Hospital.
- Kittens and Puppies. Young pets need a series of vaccinations and boosters before age one. Kittens born to mothers infected with Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) will need the FeLV vaccine.
- Adult Dogs. Shots required at regular intervals include canine hepatitis, Distemper, Leptospirosis, Parvovirus and Rabies. Optional vaccinations for Lyme disease, kennel cough will be determined based on your dog’s lifestyle.
- Adult Cats. Shots needed at regular intervals include Calicivirus, Distemper, Feline herpesvirus and Rabies. Optional FeLV will be determined based on your cat’s lifestyle.
